Summary: a catch-all post for pre-war threads of elle and the reynolds

meet me in the garden where the weeds grow tall

[While they're talking, he isn't settling the matter of Elle's clothes, so he glances at Elle and multitasks.]
What do you think of the red flower print dress?

[Oh, they're splitting the conversation now. This is something Elle has gotten used to with them; they really like their fake arguments. She just doesn't always seem to... get it, sometimes.]
Oh! I mean, it's cute, but I don't know... I was looking at this yellow one?

[And then back to Zetta.]
Of course I wouldn't pay them. I'd find people I could seduce, threaten, or blackmail to do my bidding.

Same difference. It doesn't change my point at all.

Your point being that if you leave me here I'll find some kidnappers to take me to whatever destination I want?

Oooh, oooh, so hats are next? Maybe sunglasses, too? [And then she could look like a movie star! In... a dress... that's out of fashion, but whatever.
Zetta pinches the bridge of her nose.] Good god, we're never getting out of here.

[Ferran moves closer to Zetta.]
Don't worry, I won't let you die of old age in a department store.

[A pause. And then, in her normal voice:] Get me the fuck home before the goddamn game starts.

And also, that gives us another... [He checks his watch again.] ...fifteen minutes before we need to leave, if I speed on the way home.
[And he always speeds.]

[Which he may or may not pay for. He can certainly afford them, but every once in a while he prefers not to. He probably shouldn't shoplift them while he's with Elle, however. She'd probably try to return them.]

[Zetta watches Elle head off with the yellow dress, practically a skip in her step, and, once again, finds herself baffled at the state of her life at the moment. Adding Ferran to her image of life with Riley wasn't easy, but once she accepted it, he slotted right in like there had been a spot ready and waiting for him all this time. But, with Elle... There's no predicting when Riley will bring a new stray home, but this -- This is different. And it's easy for Riley to get attached to people, but she's even won over Ferran, something Zetta knows is next to impossible. Even Zetta doesn't mind her as much as she does others. But, still, it feels... odd, sometimes.]
A minute isn't long enough for a quickie, huh, [she quips dryly.]

Oh, the sacrifices we make. [Don't mind her if she sidles on up to him.]

She doesn't waste time once they're there, turning to go up on her toes and loop her arms around his neck to pull him down to her.]
