- minor timeskip to when the BoS has its feet under it again, shaun asks riley to go up and keep an eye on them and deacon goes with
- they get assigned to a BoS squad composed of AU versions of chancellery guards (paladin archimedes o'hallan, knight-captain anthony norris, lancer-sargeant alex reyes, knight riley reynolds, knight everett wynter, knight henry "hal" saller, aspirant 'jack' "deacon" 'priest')
- maybe some minor quests involving getting to know them, gotta get some solid Bonding going
- sarrith (sarah, secret enclave remnant) and sal's romeo and juliet romance
- that one quest where you get the nukes from the glowing sea for the BoS
- wynter's mistake and gradual ghoulification and the position it puts the squad in
- blind betrayal

- shaun announces ferran officially as his successor
- ferran dealing with the short institute quests that result from that
- shaun discovering ferran's a slut and trying to talk to him about it
- zetta freaking out bc they're spending all this time waiting for her to recover and dealing with the BoS, and not having the time to try to figure out a way to save shaun
- zetta, in general, driving shaun slowly up the wall because she's cooped up and needs to be kept occupied or else Bad Things Start Happening, why is this shaun's life, this was not what he was expecting at all
- ferran going on missions with x6-88 / house divided, warwick
- nathan and zay's one night stand with ferran becoming not a one night stand any more
- at some point we need to have nathan call deacon a mongrel to his face so zetta can go positively nuclear
- zay finding out nathan is taking buffout

- build towards the railroad and institute being on better terms (not *stable*, but they need to be in a position where they're willing to make an alliance at the battle for bunker hill and afterwards to take the BoS down)
- probably need to do a meeting with dez and carrington, bc jfc (and ferran being the next director makes it easier to make negotiations on the institute's behalf though shaun probably doesnt fully trust him with that wrt the railroad yet, shaun needs to see ferran make decisions that benefit the institute OVER the railroad for that)

- mass fusion happens before battle for bunker hill, lighting a fire under the brotherhood's ass (still use it as the faction cut-off point?)
- at the battle, brotherhood wins -- keeping them a legitimate threat and serving as the push for the institute and railroad to work together against them

[Riley feels Deacon talking, hears his voice, but still isn't processing his actual words. He just feels love, soft and warm in his chest, begin to spread. Yaaayyyy cuddles warm Deacon. <3333]

[There's a long pause from outside.]

It cooks?

[The Brotherhood doesn't keep Mr. Handies and all the ones he'd ever encountered in the capital wasteland tended to be murder-y. Maybe it was the higher rad levels in the D.C. area that made robots more prone to programming degradation than their Boston brethren.]

Yeah, he cooks. And makes coffee. Has he made coffee yet?

[Riley's finally beginning to catch up, and as he does, he starts to realize that he was also kind of taking for granted that Codsworth is here -- his still-mostly-asleep mind was thinking, of course Codsworth is here, he's always here. And then Riley also connects as to why Codsworth's actually here. He makes a quiet noise at first, then shifts his face out of Deacon's neck.] We'll be there in a minute, [he manages to say, just in time before he yawns.]

Mornin' sunshine.

[Deacon murmurs and rolls over so he's nose to nose with Riley.]

Hey, [Riley answers sleepily, nudging Deacon's nose with his.] Morning.

[ersatzeverything]

[Even in the dim light of the trailer, Deacon's pupils are contracted to pinpricks, eyes all blue iris. He moves in closer and softly kisses Riley.]

[Riley's own dark eyes lull closed again when Deacon kisses him, melting into it. Without opening them, he then murmurs,] Your eyes are so pretty.

[Deacon blinks, an uncertain furrow between his brows at the compliment. But his expression clears quickly.]

Yeah, that's why I wear the shades. Otherwise I'd have groupies following me everywhere and it'd totally cramp my style.

[inhonorof]

[With his eyes closed, Riley misses Deacon's expression.] It's true. No one'd be able to resist. [His mouth twitches.] And then we might have to share even more than we already are.

[ersatzeverything]

Don't worry, I'm aaaall yours.

[inhonorof]

[........... the temptation to roll over on top of him in response is too strong, and Riley isn't awake enough to resist. So, he kisses Deacon again and does that, equally unable to keep from smiling.]

[Deacon chuckles into the kiss and buries his fingers in Riley's hair. God, he wishes they were someplace more private right now, because the morning has taken a surprisingly romantic turn in this totally unromantic location.]

[inhonorof]

[This feels good. And after yesterday, he wants to revel in this as long as he can. Riley cups the side of Deacon's neck with one hand and his jaw with the other.]

[ersatzeverything]

[...

...Fuck it. Alex can be standing five feet away and snapping pictures for all he cares. Deacon melts into Riley's touch and deepens the kiss.]

[Riley makes an impossibly soft sound into the kiss and opens his mouth to him, thumbs gently brushing against warm skin.]

[ersatzeverything]

[That sound is like a deadly weapon, can turn a man's brain to goo faster than a mesmetron. Deacon hooks his right leg over Riley's hip.]

[inhonorof]

[His breath hitches, and he instinctively, unthinkingly, rocks slightly against Deacon. He... wants this. Wants the warmth, the love, the easy morning. And then one of the puppies sneezes.]

[ersatzeverything]

[The puppy sneeze starts Deacon huffing in quiet laughter.]

[inhonorof]

[And Deacon laughing starts Riley giggling, and together, it's enough to start to bring Riley back to reality again. Ah, well... It'd be a bad idea for them to really make a try for anything right now, anyway. They'd probably just get interrupted. Still... Riley's wistful for it. He kisses the end of Deacon's nose.] I guess we should go ahead and get around.

[ersatzeverything]

Yeah, guess so.

[Deacon reluctantly lets Riley's hip go and lowers his leg back to the floor.]

Let's take a rain check. Or puppy check, technically. Once the mission's done we can find a trailer somewhere and, like, recapture the moment.

Sounds good. [Riley allows himself one last, sweet, lingering kiss before he forces himself to roll off of Deacon and sit up. He yawns, rubbing the heel of his hand against his eye.]

[Deacon chases the kiss and then it's gone.

Sometimes being responsible sucks.

He stretches his arms over his head and arches his back. Stiff muscles complain at the movement, but that's just too damn bad for them. Time to get up and get moving.]

[... wow, that wasn't distracting at all. Riley can't help but stop and watch as Deacon stretches. The temptation to glide his hands down his sides, lean over and kiss his stomach, is... ... no. No, they can't. Riley forces himself to stand up and go check on the puppies.]

[Deacon rolls out of bed and slips on his shades.]

How are the little tykes doing?

[Riley is kneeling by the desk, reaching down into the enclosed space with one hand, brushing his fingers over them as they wriggle around.] They're okay, I think. I'm sure they're hungry, but... At least they're warm. And they should be able to stay that way in Codsworth's compartment.
