- minor timeskip to when the BoS has its feet under it again, shaun asks riley to go up and keep an eye on them and deacon goes with
- they get assigned to a BoS squad composed of AU versions of chancellery guards (paladin archimedes o'hallan, knight-captain anthony norris, lancer-sargeant alex reyes, knight riley reynolds, knight everett wynter, knight henry "hal" saller, aspirant 'jack' "deacon" 'priest')
- maybe some minor quests involving getting to know them, gotta get some solid Bonding going
- sarrith (sarah, secret enclave remnant) and sal's romeo and juliet romance
- that one quest where you get the nukes from the glowing sea for the BoS
- wynter's mistake and gradual ghoulification and the position it puts the squad in
- blind betrayal

- shaun announces ferran officially as his successor
- ferran dealing with the short institute quests that result from that
- shaun discovering ferran's a slut and trying to talk to him about it
- zetta freaking out bc they're spending all this time waiting for her to recover and dealing with the BoS, and not having the time to try to figure out a way to save shaun
- zetta, in general, driving shaun slowly up the wall because she's cooped up and needs to be kept occupied or else Bad Things Start Happening, why is this shaun's life, this was not what he was expecting at all
- ferran going on missions with x6-88 / house divided, warwick
- nathan and zay's one night stand with ferran becoming not a one night stand any more
- at some point we need to have nathan call deacon a mongrel to his face so zetta can go positively nuclear
- zay finding out nathan is taking buffout

- build towards the railroad and institute being on better terms (not *stable*, but they need to be in a position where they're willing to make an alliance at the battle for bunker hill and afterwards to take the BoS down)
- probably need to do a meeting with dez and carrington, bc jfc (and ferran being the next director makes it easier to make negotiations on the institute's behalf though shaun probably doesnt fully trust him with that wrt the railroad yet, shaun needs to see ferran make decisions that benefit the institute OVER the railroad for that)

- mass fusion happens before battle for bunker hill, lighting a fire under the brotherhood's ass (still use it as the faction cut-off point?)
- at the battle, brotherhood wins -- keeping them a legitimate threat and serving as the push for the institute and railroad to work together against them

Sanctuary's turrets should be able to hold off an attack like this one, but Codsworth's going to be travelling solo.

[He says that quietly, but then raises his voice to talk to O'Hallan.]

If these guys are making their home somewhere nearby, they're gonna be trouble for the Brotherhood base Maxson has planned. Talk about tech being abused.

[That should plant the idea in O'Hallan's head that maybe the Brotherhood should go find these robot raiders and deal with them. It won't happen soon enough to help Codsworth, but it'll help Sanctuary and Abernathy.]

[Riley should maybe feel bad about asking them to do this, because it's a Minutemen concern, not a Brotherhood one -- Except, when Deacon puts it like that, he realizes the Brotherhood is going to want this taken care of. He squeezes Deacon's hand.]

[Deacon squeezes Riley's hand back, glad that he saw what Deacon did there and approved.

These raiders are a hell of a lot more dangerous than the usual Commonwealth low life. The Brotherhood are better equipped and better trained than the Minutemen. Plus, if there's going to be casualties taking them out, he'd rather it be Brotherhood deaths than settlers, even if he's still suspicious of the Minutemen as a concept.]

Let's help check the bodies to see if we can find any hints where they came from.

[Alex lightly kicks the head casing of the yellow robot Riley shot down.]

If the robots have a nav system, I might be able to pull one out and wire it into the vertibird GIS computer and backtrack their movements.

[Riley wishes Zetta were here.] Is there anyone who knows enough about robots to be able to tell what's what?

No one here has scribe training. [O'Hallan knows that from the official personnel records. But perhaps someone has a robotics hobby, if they're lucky.

Hal shrugs helplessly and looks at others. Everett stares at his boots as if he thinks it's a shameful failing that he's not a mechanical expert in addition to being a soldier. Anthony shakes his head.]

[Riley frowns. But Zetta is stuck down in the Institute... And he doesn't know if he'd feel right asking Sturges to come -- He doesn't even know if Sturges can do robots.] Codsworth might be able to recognize something, if we wait around long enough for him to get here.

What's it's ETA? [Alex asks, shuffling restlessly back and forth on his feet.]

Sometime in the morning.

[Alex spins in frustration at having to wait. He turns to O'Hallan.]

Permission to take the 'bird up for recon, sir.

Denied. [O'Hallan says promptly. No consideration needed.]

[Alex's restlessness strikes Riley as so familiar, so starkly, bone-achingly familiar that suddenly, he can't breathe. There've been other things, other reminders, but the more time he spends around Alex, he... ... god, he reminds him so much of Shaun sometimes.] We should at least bring the robots closer to the trailers so it's easier to deal with them later. [And it'll give Alex something he can do.]

And begin salvaging them for rare materials.
